Welcome to Wantage Baptist Church, an independent evangelical church nestled in an historic town in South Oxfordshire.

As you come into the building, look straight ahead to the central arch where you will see a wooden cross and the words, “Jesus Christ Is Lord”. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our primary focus as a church, as we seek to glorify him and worship him in spirit and truth (John 4:24). We look to the two greatest commandments as our guiding principles (Matthew 22:37-40):

1). To love the Lord God with all our heart, soul and mind

2). To love your neighbour as yourself

We teach the Bible – God’s holy word – as the right foundation for our faith, our worship and our service.

Our congregation spans all ages and cultures, with at least four continents represented in our mix. We consider it a blessed foretaste of heaven, where the apostle John had a vision of “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. (Revelation 7:9).

Join us for Sunday worship at 10:30am, a joyful gathering of song, prayer, expository Bible teaching, and heartfelt connection. Children are fully catered for, with creche facilities and Bible classes for all ages, so the whole family can experience church together. We have a Safeguarding Lead and Deputy in the church, and make safety for all a priority.

We welcome everyone to join us for refreshments after the service. On the third Sunday of each month, we share Communion together, welcoming all who know Jesus as Saviour to share at his table.

Throughout the week, we have a variety of gatherings including men’s chat, ladies fellowship, afternoon and evening Life Groups, plus other social groups. We aim to glorify God through faithful living and joyful fellowship.
